Trash Talk: End Of Summer 2024 Relaxed Hair Empties

This summer I didn’t take any shortcuts on my relaxed hair care. I wanted to make sure my relaxed hair came out of the summer looking and feeling just as good or better than when summer started.

I tried a few new to me hair products but I also used several that I’ve come to rely on. A few of those I used up by summer end and they made it onto my list of hair empties.

The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum For Hair Density

This is a concentrated serum that is supposed to help hair look thicker, denser, fuller, and healthier. The key ingredients help improve or increase hair density or increase blood flow to the scalp.

I decided to give this hair serum a try to see if it would help with hair growth and thickening some areas that looked a little thin. To make it a little bit of a controlled test, I only used it in specific areas of my scalp. After using the whole bottle I didn’t notice a huge difference in those areas over the others. This is not something I plan to ever buy or use again.

TGIN Rose Water Sulfate Free Hydrating Shampoo

I love TGIN hair products and use the Moisture Rich Sulfate Free Shampoo quite often, so I decided to give this other hydrating shampoo a try.

The Rose Water shampoo is part of the Curls ‘N Roses Collection and is formulated to gently cleanse the hair, leaving it moisturized without feeling greasy.

I liked this shampoo as it lathers well and my hair felt clean but not dry. I do think my hair likes the Moisture Rich shampoo better. Nevertheless, I did repurchase the Rose Water Sulfate Free Hydrating Shampoo during an Ulta sale because the Moisture Rich one was out of stock.

TGIN Rose Water Hydrating Hair Mask

This is the companion to the TGIN Rose Water Sulfate Free Hydrating Shampoo. Overall I liked it and think it performed just as well as the other TGIN hair mask that I use which is the Miracle RepaiRx Hair Mask.

Design Essentials Agave & Lavender Moisturizing Hair Bath

This is a sulfate-free shampoo that provides intense hydration which helps to promote healthy hair growth by preventing shedding and breakage.

Each time I used this Design Essentials shampoo I got a nice lather with little effort. My hair always felt nice, clean, and soft afterward, and the shampoo didn’t irritate or dry out my scalp.

This is a shampoo I plan to purchase again.

TGIN Miracle RepaiRx Anti-Breakage Serum

This hair serum helps to smooth my hair and is great to use as a sealant when moisturizing my hair.

I only need to use a little bit of it on my hair. This serum has a nice and light feeling and isn’t greasy.

TGIN Argan Replenishing Hair & Body Serum

I alternate between this hair serum and the Miracle RepaiRx one. I like to use them as sealants when I moisturize my relaxed hair.

I like it because it lives up to the claims of reducing frizz and flyaways and sealing in moisture. My hair feels nice and soft after using it.

Mielle Mongongo Oil Thermal & Heat Protectant Spray

This was on my list last time. It’s my go-to heat protectant and I plan to continue using it and use up all of the bottles still in my stash.
