Sephora Savings Event details

As with other Sephora sales, the start date depends on your level within the Sephora rewards program. There are three different levels in the Sephora rewards program. Each level is based on how much you spend within a year.
  • The first level is Beauty Insider which is the level everyone starts when they sign up for the rewards program. There’s no spend level you need to reach or maintain.
  • The second level is VIB. You need to spend $350 a year to reach this level. If you buy a lot of beauty and hair products and shop exclusively at Sephora it probably wouldn’t be too hard to reach this threshold. I don’t spend this much on hair, beauty, and skin products in a year. Nor do I shop at Sephora very often so there’s no way I could see myself hitting this threshold.
  • The third and highest level is Rouge. To reach it you need to spend, wait for it,….$1000 in a year. Yes, you read that right, $1000. I probably won’t ever reach Rouge status. If $350 is a reach there’s no way, no way I would ever hit $1000. I can’t imagine spending that much in a year on hair, skin, and makeup products!

The reason I've mentioned the different levels in Sephora’s reward program is during sale events, each level gets a different discount. For this sale, Rouge gets 20% off, VIB gets 15% off, and Insider gets 10% off.

You will need a promo code to get the discount. The code is SAVINGS. You could try the code in lowercase but I would personally go with the uppercase since that’s how it was provided.

You can use the Sephora promo code as many times as you’d like during the sale dates to get your Insider level discount.

Another reason the insider levels matter for this sale is that Rogues get first access to the sale meaning it starts November 1st for Rouges and November 5th for everyone else. The sale ends on November 11th for all Insider levels.

If you’re not a Beauty Insider yet you can sign up here.

You can also shop on Kohl's site because of their partnership with Sephora.

I’m not a huge fan of Sephora sales because the size of the discount is based on the insider level you’re at and the discounts are usually pretty small.

Since I’m only at the entry Beauty Insider level my discount is minimal so I don't usually shop this sale. Especially when most of the items I would buy at Sephora I can get at Ulta and Ulta sales tend to have bigger discounts available to everyone. Plus, I can earn points at Ulta that I can use to discount my purchase even further.

Sephora Savings Event hair recommendations

Check out my compiled list of a few recommendations for hair products and tools. So you know most of these are products I haven’t used but I’ll note for you the ones that I have.

Olaplex

For those who don’t know. Olaplex is a system of hair products that repairs and prevents hair damage by restoring the hair's broken disulfide bonds. There are multiple products in the system but I've used only three Olaplex products - numbers 3, 8, and 9.

Olaplex 3 is the most popular product in the line and it’s the Hair Repair Perfector. It is a pre-shampoo hair treatment that reduces breakage and split ends for visibly healthier hair.

I’ve used the product several times and don’t think the results I received were worth the amount of money but so many other women with relaxed hair swear by it and have gotten really good results so I couldn’t leave it off the list.

Olaplex number 8 is the Bond Intense Moisture Mask. It’s a concentrated reparative mask to treat dry or damaged hair for weightless moisture, smoothness, body, and shine.

I liked the mask more than the Hair Repair Perfector. My experience with the moisture mask is mostly limited to a treatment at the hair salon. I’ve liked how it helped with smoothing my hair and the resulting shine. It’s not as moisturizing as I prefer my hair masks to be though.

And then there’s Olaplex number 9 the Bond Protector Nourishing Hair Serum. It claims to be a weightless, leave-in styling serum that’s rich in antioxidants to help protect from pollution, heat, and future damage for shine, bounceback curls, and anti-static and anti-tangle action.

I used the serum on my wet hair before roller setting and it helped me get some really smooth roller sets. It also gave my hair some incredible shine.

Dyson Airwrap Multi Styler

If nothing else I could see myself buying one of these because they are so pretty! That is if I had over $500 to drop on this.

Yes, this hair tool is a lot of money. I think I’ve probably spent this much on blow dryers over my entire lifetime. I have seen some people say they justify the price because it can replace multiple different hair tools and it’s supposed to be less damaging to the hair.

If you don’t know what the Dyson Airwrap is it’s a hair tool that dries and styles the hair simultaneously which can save you time. It also Curls, shapes, smooths, and hides flyaways. The Airwrap does all of that without using the extreme temperatures that traditional styling tools use.

Those higher temps that traditional styling tools use break bonds in the hair and reset them in a new shape—causing permanent damage to the hair (creating a need to spend money to buy and use Olaplex). Instead of the extreme heat the Dyson Airwrap™ multi-styler styles hair from wet to dry using airflow.

Here’s what typically comes in a set
  • The main body is where all of the attachments connect and the case holds all of the attachments
  • The smoothing dryer attachment that dries, smooths, and hides flyaways
  • There’s the 1.2” Airwrap™ long barrel used to create loose, bouncy curls or waves in longer hair in two directions
  • The 1.6" Airwrap™ long barrel to create voluminous curls and waves in longer hair in both directions
  • There’s the soft smoothing brush to create a smooth, blow-dry finish
  • The firm smoothing brush to smooth and shape frizz-prone hair with increased control, for straighter styles
  • The round volumizing brush to volumize and shape fine, flat hair.
  • The filter cleaning brush to quickly clean the airwrap filter
  • And last but not least the Dyson-designed Detangling comb is used for detangling and lengthening before styling or straightening.

Shark FlexStyle Hair Blow Dryer & Multi-Styler

If you’re not ready to drop over $500 on the Dyson AirWrap a good alternative could be this multi-styler from Shark.

It claims no heat damage because it dries fast while maintaining low heat and ensuring consistent air temperature. Instead of getting hotter as it runs, Shark minimizes heat exposure & regulates temperatures.

There are fewer attachments with the Shark FlexStyle which is probably one of the reasons it costs about half the amount of the Dyson AirWrap. The attachments you get are two 1.25" Auto-Wrap Curlers, an Oval Brush, a Paddle Brush, and a Styling Concentrator.

One cool feature of the Shark FlexStyle is it doesn’t just stay straight it bends making it easier to use as a blow dryer.

Shark SpeedStyle Rapid Gloss Finisher and High-Velocity Hair Dryer

If you just want a more traditional blow dryer this could be for you.

This hair dryer claims to cause no heat damage and comes with three attachments - a brush, a concentrator, and what’s called the RapidGloss™ Finisher. The RapidGloss finisher claims to deliver a silky, naturally shiny finish with up to six times less frizz.

K18

This is a brand to check out during the sale. I’ve been seeing more and more influencers mentioning it. Either because they use the products or they have started testing them on their hair as an alternative to Olaplex.

Like Olaplex K18 is a hair repair product. A key difference is it doesn’t just repair disulfide bonds but also reconnects broken keratin chains.

There are two K18 products that seem to be worth looking into.

The first is the Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask which claims to clinically reverse damage in four minutes with its patented peptide technology.

It repairs damage from bleach, color, chemical services, and heat, restoring strength, softness, smoothness, and bounce to hair.

The second product is the K18 Molecular Repair Hair Oil which is a weightless oil that claims to strengthen, repair damage, reduce frizz at two levels of the hair fiber, and improve shine.

The Ordinary Multi Peptide Hair Density Serum

Another brand to check out for hair products is The Ordinary.

If you follow me on Instagram at @arelaxedgal you know that I use a few The Ordinary products in my skincare routine.

What you may not know is they also have products for hair. This is one that’s caught my eye which is the Multi-Peptide Hair Density Serum. It is a concentrated serum that helps hair look thicker, denser, fuller, and healthier. The main hair concerns it addresses are thinning, volumizing, and flaky/dry Scalp.

Moroccanoil Treatment Hair Oil

This is a multitasking, argan oil-infused hair treatment that absorbs quickly, helps improve shine, softness, and hydration, and smooths frizz and flyaways.

Crown Affair The Silk Scrunchie No. 001 Set

This is a three-pack of small silk scrunchies that can be used to put your hair in a ponytail or bun. I like using satin scrunchies because they create less creasing in the hair and don't cause breakage.

Briogeo Don't Dispair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Mask

This is a hair mask that is formulated to strengthen damaged hair. It's also supposed to help prevent future damage, split ends, breakage, dryness, and frizz. It can be used on straight, wavy, curly, and coily hair.
