While I’m purposeful in switching out my Summer hair products for ones better suited for Fall, I’m not quite that way when it comes to my makeup.
Unlike hair products though, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of difference between Summer and Fall makeup outside of the shades and in some instances moving away from lighter and sheer types of makeup.
I tend to use the same makeup products all year round and may only switch things up when I need to replace something that was used up. So if you looked in my makeup bag you would find very few products that probably fit neatly in the buckets of Summer or Fall makeup.
That being said, I still have done some window shopping (can you call it that when it’s online?) to see what makeup products I would buy for Fall if I were in the market for some.

The makeup I found not only comes in deeper shades but is also highly pigmented so they would show up better on my deep skin tone. Most if not all of these products at multiple retailers such as Target, Walmart, Ulta, and Amazon.

Eyeshadow palettes for Fall
When it comes to eye shadows it can be hard to find palettes at the drugstore that have more than a few colors that work on deep skin tones like mine. Now mind you, my skin tone isn’t that deep so I can only imagine how harder it is to find eye shadow shades that work for those with deeper skin tones than me.
When buying eyeshadow palettes that can transition my makeup into fall I look for
- Highly pigmented shades
- Lots of deep and rich pinks, oranges, and browns
- A mix of matte & metallic finishes
The eyeshadow palettes I found that check one or more of those boxes are
- Juvia's Place The Coffee Shop Palette: This is one I use regularly. It has matte and shimmer shades of tan, auburn, and rich dark chocolate

- Wet n Wild Color Icon 5 Pan Eyeshadow Palette in Sundaze: High impact matte, satin, shimmer, metallic, and glitter finishes

Blushes for Fall
Now for blushes which are always a struggle for me. I have a hard time finding shades that aren’t too light for my skin tone nor are they too dark. I seem to always struggle with one or the other including during my window shopping. There don't seem to be a lot of options at the drugstore level.
One option I found is the Milani Cheek Kiss Cream Blush in Merlot Moment.

Another good option is the L'Oréal Infallible 24H Fresh Wear Soft Matte Blush in shades Legendary Berry or Daring Rosewood.
Black Radiance also has some wonderful blush shades in their Artisan Color Baked Blush collection such as Brick House and Warm Berry.
Lipsticks for fall
Now on to the lips. For my Fall picks, I have the
- Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick: Comes in 20+ shades so there’s at least one for every skin tone
- NYX Butter Gloss: Comes in multiple shades but Ginger Snap and Cranberry Pie have caught my eye
- NYX Professional Makeup Suede Matte Lipstick in Girl, Bye or Cherry Pie
Not only do these lipsticks and lip glosses have shades perfect for fall but several of them are also moisturizing so they can help keep your lips hydrated which is helpful during the cooler temps.

Nail polish for fall
Last but not least is nail polish. I don’t wear nail polish on my fingernails at any time of the year. I do wear it on my toenails all year round because in Florida I can wear open-toed shoes for most of the year and you also never know when people may see your feet.
In the Summer I wear bright colors but in the Fall I wear deep and dark shades that compliment my skin tone like the following
