Is The Sephora Spring Sale Worth It For Beauty Insiders?

Is it wrong that I’m a beauty blogger who doesn’t go or shop at Sephora more than once or twice a year? If it’s even that much.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Sephora. So much so that both times I was in Canada one summer I made a special trip to browse around the store. While I’ll visit Sephora I don’t shop there much. I think one of the reasons is the store seems dark and moody to me so it kinda puts me out of a shopping mood when I go in there. Plus the majority of the makeup and other products cost so much more than my budget can handle.

But I digress. I’m not here to bash Sephora but to talk about the 2020 Spring Sale that is starting April 23rd for Beauty Insiders. Since I’m only at Beauty Insider status I’m just going to briefly mention some info about the other two levels and focus on us Beauty Insiders.

What is the Sephora Spring Sale?

Every Spring Sephora holds a storewide sale for all of their rewards members by giving them a special discount code to use at checkout.

What are the details of the sale?

This year the dates for the sale vary by membership level. For Rouge members, the sale dates are April 17 - May 1, 2020. April 21 - April 29, 2020, are the VIB sales dates, and April 23 - April 27, 2020, for Beauty Insiders.

Sephora Spring Sale discount levels

Rouge: This is the highest rewards level at 20% off.

VIB: This is the middle or second rewards level. They get 15%.

Insiders: This is the lowest or first level of the rewards program which is what I’m in (hey you have to spend $350 a year to get and stay at VIB status something I can’t justify.) Us Beauty Insiders 10% off.

To get the percentage off you have to use code SPRINGSAVE during checkout. The interesting thing about this year's Spring Sale is it will be only available online since all of the Sephora stores are closed due to the pandemic.

For all of the levels, you can use your discount code as many times as you want and can afford to during the duration of the sale.

There are a few limitations. I’ve noted the key ones below but make sure you read the fine print and pay attention to what the discount is applied.
  • Not valid on Google, The Ordinary, and MAC Cosmetics VIVA GLAM products.
  • Only valid on one Dyson item, three Drunk Elephant items, three Tatcha items, and five Morphe items per transaction.
  • As with most discounts they aren’t valid on past purchases, purchases of gift cards or eGift cards, taxes, and shipping & handling charges. As well as FLASH, PLAY! by SEPHORA, and gift wrap.

Some product recommendations

My personal opinion about the sale is to buy products that are exclusive to Sephora and you can’t get anywhere else. 10% off isn’t a lot but can save you a few extra dollars here and there.

Oh and if you want to save even more try using Rakuten to get cashback on your purchase which helps you to save a little more overall. You can sign up today using my affiliate link to make sure you’re all set up before the Sephora sale starts. Plus, you could get a $10 bonus for signing up.

Ok, now for my recommendations.
Sephora spring sale: Kat Von D Cake Pencil Eyeliner

Kat Von D Cake Pencil Eyeliner

For me, $19 is a lot to spend on eyeliner. Even an eyeliner as good as this one so getting almost $2 off makes it a bit more affordable. I got a chance to test it out when Influencer sent me one for free. It glides on smoothly making it easy to apply. Plus it lasts for hours.

Sephora spring sale: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

Yep, another one from Kat Von D. I also got to try this for free when Influencer sent me one. I’ve never been a fan of liquid liners but I really liked this one. It’s great for easily and cleanly creating that winged liner look that seems to be pretty popular.

Sephora spring sale: Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation at SephoraFenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

Not only is this a popular foundation, but it’s also a good one. I gave it a try by getting a sample from Sephora. I liked how it felt on my face and how it held up during the day. If I wasn’t a budget shopper and realized I could buy 5-6 of the drugstore foundation I use for every one of the Pro Filt’r this would be in my makeup bag.

Sephora spring sale: Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray

I really like this stuff. It not only keeps my makeup in place but also helps to lessen the amount of time it takes for my face to get oily. While you can get this at Ulta for the same price with the 10% Beauty Insider discount you can get it a little cheaper at Sephora.

Sephora spring sale: The Original BeautyblenderThe Original Beautyblender Makeup Sponge

This is supposed to be the best makeup sponge out there. While I wouldn't go that far, it is one of the best. While the original price is the same at Ulta but the Beauty Insider discount makes it a couple of dollars cheaper.

Sephora spring sale: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation

This is the most expensive item on my list but I’ve heard the price is worth it. I haven’t been able to get a sample of this Estee Lauder foundation so I have yet to be convinced of that. This foundation is said to be very long-lasting even for oily skin like mine. Plus it comes in over 55 shades!

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

This serum claims to reduce the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion and balance visible aspects of sebum activity. Translated, it's supposed to help reduce breakouts, dark spots from blemishes, and reduce oil products.

I've been using this for several months and have noticed my skin looking clearer than before. I also noticed some dark spots fade quicker than normal. You can read my full review here.

Sephora spring sale: Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3

Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3

This is a hair treatment I’ve been seeing a lot of relaxed and natural hair vloggers and Influencers use and talk about. It claims to be “a concentrated treatment that strengthens the hair from within, reducing breakage and improving its look and feel.” It seems this is being used by some in the relaxed hair community in place of the traditional hard protein treatment. I've used it a few times and at first, I wasn't too impressed but as I use it more I've seen my hair look and feel smoother.

Sephora spring sale: Moroccanoil TreatmentMoroccanoil Treatment

If you like to seal your hair with an oil or serum I’ve heard this is a good one. It claims that it “detangles, speeds up drying time, and boosts shine.” I've had some hair stylists use this on my hair and it made my hair feel soft and didn't weigh it down.

As you can see the sale price for all of the products isn’t that much different than the original price but if you shop online with Rakuten you can get a little bit of cashback on your purchase which can make the sale price look a little bit better.

So what do you think? Is the Sephora Spring Sale worth it for us Beauty Insiders?
