Wash Day: 7 Weeks Post 7/11 Relaxer Touch Up

Nope. Your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. I'm back with a wash day post! After several weeks of not chronicling my wash days, I decided it was time for me to share one. In fact, it'd been so long I had to pull out a calendar and count how many weeks post my last relaxer touch up I am. After looking at the calendar I realized it's only been seven weeks since my touch up, but it feels a bit longer. Anyway to the wash day.

In the last couple of weeks, I've been using the SheaMoisure Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Hair Masque as my deep conditioner and honestly haven't been too impressed with it. I decided this week to go back to my tried and true deep conditioner and also clarify.

I started off with a deep conditioning pre-poo using my go-to Eden BodyWorks Jojoba Monoi Deep Conditioner. I applied the deep conditioner, put my hair up and then went to my neighborhood workout room and worked out for about 25 minutes. Right as I got back to my apartment my mother called and I talked to her for over an hour. This gave me a nice pre-poo time of about one and a half hours.

Next, I cleansed using the SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo mixed with water in an application bottle. Mixing the shampoo with water allowed me to work up a good lather. Using the application bottle let me get the shampoo right on my scalp. I cleansed twice, something I don't normally do, but felt my hair needed it.

The third step was rinsing with warm water and applying a green tea and Jamaican Black Castor Oil mix to my scalp and massaging it in. Without rinsing the mix out I applied Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructor and left it in about 2-3 minutes. To lock in all the goodness I rinsed with cool water.

To finish up I t-shirt dried for an hour, applied the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioner, and sealed with Eden BodyWorks Jojoba Hair Oil. I then air-dried for another hour before sitting under my hooded drier for 20 minutes. My hair was still damp when I went to bed, but I cross wrapped it and here are the next day results.

My hair felt great and looked great too! Hopefully, it will stay that way throughout the week. I definitely think the combination of my go-to deep conditioner and clarifying made a big difference.

What's your go-to deep conditioner?

    1. Jessiecurl is another one I haven't tried and want to put on my wish list. The smoothness comes from using products my hair likes. I wish I'd had that knowledge back in the day. Would have saved myself from some heat damage.
