Wash Day: 1 Week Post 4/19 Relaxer Touch Up

This is my first wash day post, which has me excited! I’ve read so many wash day posts from some of my favorite bloggers and now I’m doing one.

Since starting my healthy hair journey, I’ve been trying several products on my relaxed hair and have started to find some that I like, some that are so-so, and some that are no-nos. To help clear out my cabinet I’m trying to use up the so-so products with each wash and find other uses for the no-nos. Here goes nothing.

Detangled with my fingers and seamless comb using extra virgin olive oil.

Braided my hair into five braids. I’ve found this helps with minimizing tangles during the entire process. I learned this from several of the bloggers I follow Below The Waist and Journey to Waist Length are a couple that immediately comes to mind.

Pre-pooed for 30 minutes with a keratin conditioner to help bring some protein into my hair after my relaxer.

Cleansed with Thermafuse f450° Smooth Balance Shampoo. This product is formulated to be used after the Thermafuse smoothing treatment as it’s formulated to equalize the protein and moisture content of hair to improve elasticity and strength. I didn’t get the Thermfuse smoothing treatment but have been advised that it’s also good for relaxed hair.

Other pluses are the shampoo is sulfate-free and sodium chloride-free and enriched with amino acids. Also, this the best part, its pH is 4.5 which is the pH recommended after getting a relaxer. I’ll be doing a full review of this and the condition soon.

Deep conditioned with Thermafuse HeatSmart Condition without heat for 1 1/2 hours. I was all out of my moisturizing DCs so this was my substitute.

Express conditioned with Thermafuse f450° Smooth Balance Condition.

Applied my go-to detangler Pantene Pro-V Moisture Mist Detangler and got out any tangles.

T-shirt dried for 30 minutes.

Applied a leave-in mix of Eden Bodyworks Coconut Shea Leave-In Conditioner, SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner, and sealed with an argan oil serum.

Dried to about 85 - 90% by sitting under my hooded dryer. I used the hot setting for about 20 minutes and the cool setting for 40 minutes.

Finished drying overnight by cross-wrapping my hair and went to bed. My roots were the only part of my hair that was still damp - the one downside to thick hair.

The result of this wash day is there was very little shed hair and I didn't run into any snags or issues. After sitting under the hooded dryer my hair was smooth and felt soft to the touch. I was very happy when I went to bed. When I woke up the next morning my hair felt even softer and smoother. Overall it was a good wash day with some of the best results I've had in a while.

How was your most recent wash day? Any issues or great results?

    1. My hair didn't like it as a conditioner and as a leave in I can't use it regularly or it dries out my hair. I use it as a leave in about once a month.
